This thesis is completed with great assistance and encouragement from many people. First of all, I owe profoundest appreciation to my advisor, Dr. Shu-hui Chen, not only for her patient guidance and careful review of my thesis but also for her everlasting concern about my life in spite of her busy administrative and research work. I am really honored and blessed to have such a thoughtful and knowledgeable advisor throughout the process of thesis writing.
Besides, I would also like to express my gratitude to my committee members, Dr. Chao-wen Liaw, Dr. Ya-chen Chien and Dr. Chin-chin Tseng. I really appreciate their efforts to carefully examine and clarify problems in my thesis. This thesis would not be completed without their valuable and insightful suggestions.
